Ilan Pappé
Ilan Pappé is an Israeli-born political science professor from Haifa. Pappé has written several books on the conflict, Israel, the Palestinians, and the War of 1948. He freely admits that he writes not in the interest of accuracy, or the truth, but in relation to his political ideology.

Pappe freely admits that he writes not in the interest of accuracy, or the truth, but in relation to his political ideology.
“I admit that my ideology influences my historical writings… Indeed the struggle is about ideology, not about facts. Who knows what facts are? We try to convince as many people as we can that our interpretation of the facts is the correct one, and we do it because of ideological reasons, not because we are truthseekers.”
(“An Interview of Ilan Pappé,” Baudouin Loos, Le Soir [Bruxelles], Nov. 29, 1999)

Pappe has also been caught fabricating material. In 2006, he claimed David Ben-Gurion wrote the following in a letter to his son: “The Arabs will have to go, but one needs an opportune moment for making it happen, such as war.” He used this quote in an article and in his book “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine.”
None of the sources Pappe provided corroborate the quote, and he faced no consequences from the University of Exeter. This was not an isolated incident – he has been discredited by historians, academics and the CAMERA team on numerous occasions.

Pappé promotes the myth of a 1948 massacre of the villagers of Tantura, claiming the Israeli academic establishment is conspiring to repress the information.
He also propagates the lie that Israeli committed a 2002 massacre in Jenin despite copious refutation (including UN reports) of the bogus claim. As in the Tantura case, he suggests a conspiracy to cover up the Jenin “massacre.”

“He’s not a good historian. He distorts quotes and has an agenda to destroy the Jewish State. He’s dangerous.”
–Dr. Roberta Seid, Historian,
Adjunct Professor at UC Irvine

“…Unfortunately, much
of what Pappé tries to sell to his readers is a complete fabrication.” -Benny Morris, Historian, Ben Gurion University

Fabricating quotes and events and writing with a political agenda, Pappé is not a historian.
He is a disgrace to historians everywhere.
But despite all this, anti-Israel writers continue to use his work and regularly cite him as a reliable source, no matter how many times he has been discredited.

He propagates the lie that Israel committed a 2002 massacre in Jenin despite copious refutation (including UN reports) of the bogus claim. He continues spreading the libel that Israel committed a 1948 massacre in the town of Tantura. This is in spite of the researcher who “discovered” this apparent atrocity admitting before a district court judge that it was a fabrication. Despite all of this, Pappé is still regularly cited as a reliable source, no matter how often his material has been discredited.
