They are designated a terrorist organization by the European Union, the United States, Israel, and Canada. Despite this association, anti-Israel campus groups still endeavor to host her for their events.

According to the Israeli Shin Bet, Leila Khaled is a member of the Jordanian command of the PFLP. They are designated a terrorist organization by the European Union, the United States, Israel, and Canada.
During an October 3, 2020, online event organized by the International League of Peoples’ Struggle, Khaled glorified the murder of Israelis: “We see children going out, stabbing a settler or a soldier, using the cars… this is also resistance.” She also threatened that “Israel is not a state to live. Israel is a state to be demolished.”

During an October 21, 2013 BBC Radio 4 interview, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) member Leila Khaled recalled her attempted hijacking of El Al Flight 219 from Amsterdam to New York City on September 6, 1970:
“I said OK, you don’t want to open [the cockpit door], so I made like this – one hand up, one hand down – with the hand grenades. I count for three: if you don’t open I will explode the plane.”

During a September 26, 2017 speech to the European Parliament, Khaled compared Israeli policy to that of the Nazis, asking, “Don’t you think what happened in Auschwitz during the Holocaust is also a Holocaust comparable to what is happening in Gaza today?”

While speaking in Wuppertal, Germany, on March 30, 2016, Khaled revered violence against Israel, insisting that “…negotiations [with Israel] will be held only with knives and weapons.” During the same speech, she glorified Dalal al-Mughrabi, who led the Palestinian terrorist cell that perpetrated the Coastal Road Massacre, a brutal attack in Israel that left 38 civilians dead. 13 were children.
