WHEN WAS IT FOUNDED?

The PFLP was founded by George Habash, a Christian Arab, following the 1967 Six-Day War. He believed that the Palestinian cause was a natural ideological ally of Communism.

WHAT DOES THE PFLP DO?
The PFLP has carried out numerous terror attacks and pioneered plane hijackings as part of their political strategy.

Because the PFLP identifies as a Marxist-Leninist organization, they can partner with other groups and “activists” with similar beliefs worldwide.

May 1972: The Japanese Red Army carried out a massacre of 26 in Israel’s Lod (Ben-Gurion) Airport. The PFLP had a heavy hand in planning the attack. Many victims were Puerto Rican Christian pilgrims.

PFLP AIR FRANCE HIJACKING
June 1976: PFLP External Operations, which included German radicals, hijacked an Air France plane and rerouted it to Entebbe, Uganda. Hostages included French, German, American, and Israeli citizens. Four other PFLP members met them at the airport in Entebbe, Uganda. PFLP demanded that Israel release convicted terrorists hailing from their respective countries in return for the hostages’ release. Israel refused to comply.

Eventually, all non-Israeli hostages were released. Israel launched Operation Thunderbolt in July, freeing all Israeli hostages and neutralizing the terrorists responsible.

November 1, 2004:

August 23, 2019:

Despite this bloodshed, anti- Israel groups like SJP support PFLP and give its members platforms. They praise them on social media and invite them to speak on campus.
NYU, San Francisco State University, and other SJP chapters have repeatedly attempted to host PFLP plane hijacker Leila Khaled.
UC Berkeley’s Bears for Palestine is among many chapters lauding her as an inspiration and a hero.
